FedRAMP opens temporary Rev5 Ready Conversion and Lost Sponsor pipelines
On August 10, 2026, FedRAMP opened two limited, temporary Rev5 Program Certification pipelines: Ready Conversion and Lost Sponsor. Eligible cloud service providers can now pursue a Rev5 Class B or Class C Program Certification without an agency sponsor by submitting the FedRAMP eligibility forms described in the Consolidated Rules materials.
This is a separate path from the FedRAMP 20x Class A pipeline that opened on August 3, 2026. It does not reopen FedRAMP Ready as a general on-ramp, and it is not a sponsorless option for every Rev5 applicant.
What opened
Per FedRAMP’s July 30, 2026 blog and the Consolidated Rules timeline:
- Ready Conversion is for providers converting from legacy FedRAMP Ready status into a Rev5 Class B or Class C Program Certification
- Lost Sponsor is for providers that already invested in the Rev5 agency path but lost their sponsor
- Both paths are temporary and limited; FedRAMP reviews form submissions before confirming eligibility and next steps
- Providers must still meet minimum Rev5 requirements, including security and documentation expectations
- Do not email the shared inbox for an individual eligibility determination; use the official forms
FedRAMP 20x Class B and Class C pipelines opened on August 31, 2026. New FedRAMP Ready submissions stay closed after the July 28, 2026 Legacy transition. Existing Rev5 certifications still face the January 1, 2027 Consolidated Rules mandatory adoption date, and FedRAMP plans to stop accepting new Rev5 applications on June 11, 2027.
What to do now
- If you hold Legacy FedRAMP Ready or lost an agency sponsor, compare Ready Conversion or Lost Sponsor against FedRAMP 20x Class A, B, or C.
- Submit only the official FedRAMP eligibility form for your path; wait for FedRAMP to confirm eligibility before treating the package as in process.
- Confirm whether your offering can adopt the Balance Improvement Releases FedRAMP expects for Rev5 Program Certification; if not, plan on an agency sponsor path instead.
- Keep January 1, 2027 on the calendar for Consolidated Rules adoption even if you stay on Rev5 for now.
